It’s hard to believe that 2016 is right around the corner. If you haven’t already, it’s time to start thinking up resolutions, because the new year will be here before we know it.
If you’re not going to adopt a big resolution for 2016, that doesn’t mean you can’t still pick up on a couple of habits that can drastically change your skin’s and hair’s health.
Here are 5 habits to adopt in 2016 that will improve your health:
Prepare for bed.
One of the worst things you can do to your skin is go to bed without cleaning it and removing the makeup, oils and dirt gathered from the day. You sleep about six to eight hours per night, so you want your skin to rest and be clear from anything that can clog the pores. Facials and other services can take back the time on your skin, but by simply cleaning your skin before you go to bed, you can keep your skin from aging that much more.
Maintain your length.
We suggest getting the tips of your ends trimmed about every 3-4 months. This will ensure split ends hit the road and don’t keep your hair from growing long and strong. If your hair takes on a lot of elements - blowdryer, straightener, etc. - you might want to move up that appointment. Look at your ends and see if they’re starting to spilt. If they seem brittle and dry, you’re probably due for an appointment.
Drink more water.
Your doctor, parents and everyone else probably tells you this, but drinking more water can be a huge blessing to not only your skin, but to your whole body. Drinking water gives you energy, it keeps you hydrated and it can also make you feel full. Drinking a lot of water is one of the best things you can do for your skin - it keeps it looking young, not dry and energized.
Strengthen from within.
Vitamins and minerals can energize, protect and repair the human body. And there’s a vitamin that is perfectly crafted for hair and nail growth, too. We love Nature Made’s 2500 mg liquid formula of biotin. You take one pill a day, and it can give you that extra boost for hair growth. Plus, your nails will become stronger and grow faster.
If you don’t go in for a facial and to get pampered every once in a while, you should start in 2016. Our esthetician Carrilyn explained something to us that’s vital to healthy skincare: Your skin’s health needs to be maintained, like a diet or workout routine is. We recommend getting a facial about every 6-8 weeks. If you’re gong to be out of town or you know you can’t keep up with that routine, tell us and we’ll suggest some great products to use between your treatments.
