9 Things You Should Know About Vibrant Hair

Posted:

Since bright hair colors are all the rage this summer, we thought it was time to get real about them—they’re a lot of work. Since you’ve probably considered going purple, pink or another vibrant shade at least once, we’ve compiled a few things you should know first. Take a look below, and if you’re ready for the hair committment, we say go for it.

You may have to bleach your hair.
Unless your hair is naturally platinum blonde, chances are you will have to bleach it. In order for any bright colors to lift and stand out, your hair needs to be completely white to begin with—which could take 1-3 bleaches.

Have a professional bleach it for you.
You won’t regret this step, we promise.

Invest in quality hair care products.
A large part of going bold with your hair is maintaining that color. Investing in quality hair products specifically meant for color treated hair will help in making your color last.

Lots of things can make your color fade.
This is a very important one to note. Things that will make your color fade include how often you wash it, heat tools, which hair products you use and your exposure to the sun. Silver and pastel shades will fade the fastest and need to be touched up more often.

There are things you can do to avoid color fading.
Dry shampoo will become your best friend. Washing your hair in cold water will also slow down the color fading process.

Going bold is a big commitment.
If you couldn’t tell already... Your first service will also likely be a bit more expensive and could take anywhere from 2-5 hours.

Always protect hair when using heat tools.
This should be the case no matter what color your hair is, but it is extra important with extremely color treated hair.

You’ll be a regular at the salon.
When those roots start growing in it is not always pretty. Be prepared for salon touchups on a regular basis.

Prepare for the attention.
Your new vibrant, bold hair color will bring attention to you whether you like it or not. But just don’t be bothered—rock it!

What is Pastelage?

Posted:

Pastelage is the new balayage. Using a combination of pastel tones applied to the hair with the balayage technique, Pastelage is the latest hair trend sweeping the beauty industry.

Coined by L’Oreal Professionnel, the hair care brand makes Pastelage possible using its  new #colorfulhair semi-permanent in-salon colour palette. The #colorfulhair range features seven intermixable vibrant, intermixable shades. The genius behind L’Oreal’s Pastelage specifically is its versatility and low-committal factor— lasting between three and twelve shampoos, post service.

While L’Oreal Professionnel’s initiated the trend and the  semi-permanent treatment, that is not it for Pastelage. Stylist’s and salons have already adapted the technique and made it their own. Similar to balayage, you can paint the hair either a lot or a little depending on your desired outcome. More women, of all ages, are requesting bold hair color and Pastelage is their answer. Meet Pastelage—the trend of summer 2017.

How often do you REALLY need to get your hair cut?

Posted:

It’s a question we’ve all probably asked ourselves before—how often should I cut my hair cut? If you’re anything like me, you’ve put off your hair cut for as long as possible, just wishing for it to grow. Well, if that’s the case, you could be doing your hair a big disservice according to Post Hair Company stylist Jennifer Olivas. Olivas weighed in on the topic and below is what she had to say.

1. “For shorter hair cuts, you should be getting it cut every four to six weeks. For long cuts, it’s a six to eight week period.”

2. “When getting your haircut, you should be doing it with your color service. This way it'll take out the damage that naturally occurs with the coloring process. Haircuts are just as important as the color.”

3. "It's a myth that cutting your hair will make it grow faster, but it is essential to get regular hair cuts when  growing out your length to keep your hair healthy and looking good."

Customized robe or slippers.
Nothing says I love you mom like a fuzzy robe, socks or slippers. This small touch will make her spa day.

Purchase the products for her to take home.
Extend the life of her spa service by purchasing the exact products for her to take home. Post Hair Company proudly uses Sanitas, Jane Iredale and PCA Skin products, all available for purchase in-store.

Bring her favorite magazines or book.
Aside from the pedicure itself, taking the time to read a book or magazine is the second best part. Plan ahead and pack your mother’s favorites, she’ll appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Write a card.
The perfect thing to read before her massage or during her pedicure, write a personal note on why she deserves a spa day.

Give mom an upgrade.
If she typically gets a massage, make it 90  minutes vs 60. Add in a surprise spa facial or skin treatment following the massage to make her feel extra special.

Custom music.
Let us know what genre she’d enjoy most and we’d be happy to accommodate, or go ahead and pack her headphones and music along for her service so she can really zone out.

Plan something relaxing to do afterwards.
Take a short drive or grab a nice cup of coffee with mom after or even before her service. It’s her day, and she should know it.

Do your research.
Take a look around our website or even come in for a brief tour. Our friendly and experienced staff, like our newest Esthetician, will be more than happy to discuss or answer any questions.

7 Lazy Girl Hair Hacks

Posted:

We’ve all had those days. Those days where our hair just won’t cooperate, we’re running short on time or we’ve pre planned to sleep in— it happens. Enter in the lazy girl hair day. Looking for a simple, quick hair fix? We happen to know a few.

Hacks from Post Hair Stylist Marina Grigolini

1. Curl the top half of your hair with a 1 ¼ inch curling iron. Leave the underside untouched—it’ll look more natural and it’s better for the hair.

2. Sleep in two French braids and wake up with curly hair. Make sure to use Mousse though, it’ll hold the style better and your hair won’t get frizzy if you toss and turn at night

3. Get your haircut more often and do a deep conditioned more like every other visit. It will last four to six weeks depending on how often you wash your hair

A few other hacks to add

4. For quick curls, pull your hair up into a high pony. Divide hair into three sections and curl those strands. Undo the pony and hairspray your hair upside down. Flip up and tousle with your hands.

5. For a longer, fuller ponytail—try doubling up. Split your hair into two sections, top and bottom, and ponytail them separately. The closer together the better. Run your hands through the hair and you’ll be left with one volumptuous pony.

6. Use a texturizing product on damp hair. Split your hair in half, rolling each section away from the face and then blast the twist with the blow dryer. You’ll be left with a natural, woke-up-like-this wave.

7. Great for second day hair, part and tease up your roots and pull all of your hair back into a low, messy bun. No need to worry about every hair being perfect. This look is effortless.

7 Hairstylist Hacks

Posted:

Ever wonder why your hairstylist’s hair looks so great? Or why you can never achieve that post salon perfect hair on your own? Well today, we’re here to share. Post Hair Company stylists are spilling their secrets and tricks of the trade. We’ve included some additions from celebrity stylist’s too, so keep reading.

Use Makeup Primer to Fight Frizz: Perfect for a rainy day, place a little face primer on the hair to hold it in place. The silicone in primer, an ingredient commonly used in hair products, will create a smooth, silky surface.

Blow Dry the Top of Your Hair Last: To create maximum volume, blow dry all of your hair except the top section. Dry the top section last and comb it forward as you do so.

Use a T-Shirt to Dry Your Hair: While drying your hair with a traditional towel may be fast, it’s also the easiest way to ruin it. The harsh towel fibers can damage your strands, so instead, opt for an old cotton t-shirt says celebrity hair stylist Justine Marjan.

Curl Hair in a High Ponytail: Running short on time? Pull your hair up in a high ponytail and then curl it. You’ll be left with loose waves that take less than 5 minutes.

Detangle Hair with a Wide Tooth-Comb: Rather than using your standard bristled brush, use a comb when brushing wet hair. Wet hair is far more fragile, and a comb will maintain your hair's natural texture for a soft result, without the damage.

Rinse Hair with Cold Water: While warm water opens a hair’s cuticle, allowing shampoo and conditioner to do it’s job, cold water helps to close the cuticle and lock in moisture. Take the warm shower, but rinse lastly with cold water to achieve shiny and healthy hair.

Hairspray Your Teasing Comb: Another fix for frizz or flyaways is hairspraying your teasing comb. Add a bit of hairspray and comb those flyaways or curls near your face, they’ll be easier to perfect and you won’t be left with crunchy, hairspray hair.

Yes, its a thing, but only in China. An alcohol-soaked cloth is put over the face and then lit on fire. Women seek the “fire facial” treatment to fight colds, lose weight and brighten dull skin. It may not be as scary as it sounds, the experts say they put out the fire very quickly with another cloth before it can ever reach your skin.

Space Age Sauna

This spa treatment will have you burning calories in no time. The “space age sauna” as a spa in New York calls it, is really a heated pod. You fully lay in the pod and it works to heat the body’s core temperature. You’ll definitely sweat a lot during this one but you’ll burn plenty of calories and fat in the process.

Why You Should be Contouring Your Hair

Posted:
Unlike many trends that come and go, hair contouring is here to stay. The coloring technique is a combination of free hand application, highlighting and balayage paired with careful placement of different tones around the face, to highlight and shadow specific areas. It is great for anyone and everyone because the colors selected are based on your skin tone and positioned specifically based on your face structure. While you may have a general idea of what you’re trying to achieve, an experienced stylist like all of us at Post Hair Company, can work directly with you to achieve the best look for you. Want to know more? Keep reading to find out why you should be contouring your hair.

http://www.marca-college.com/2016/01/04/the-revolution-of-hair-contouring

Highlights are placed based on your face shape.

For round or square faces, lighter shades on the top of the hair and darker tones around the sides will make your face appear slimmer, elongated and more contoured.

For diamond, oblong, and rectangular faces, your stylist should keep the roots and the underneath of the hair dark to create shadow. Single face framing highlights along with lighter pieces weaved in front of the ears will make an elongated face shape appear move oval.

For heart of triangular face shapes, keep the darker color at the top and crown of your head and place lighter pieces at mid lengths and ends to lighten under the jawline. Sections around your hairline can also be lightened to highlight the face.

Contouring results in a natural look that is low maintenance.

Balayage, the technique of painting the hair, gives your stylist the perfect opportunity to make your new color as natural looking as possible. Choosing the right colors is another crucial part of the contouring process, and when done right, the regrowth of your hair will look soft and diffused.

10 Hair Resolutions for Perfect Hair in 2017

Posted:

As 2017 approaches, you may be thinking about your New Year's resolutions.  But today, it’s all about the hair commitments. Let the new year be the year of better hair days and no fly aways! Take it easy with heat styling or go for that new haircut you’ve been dying to try. Whatever it is, we’re compiled a list of hair resolutions for you to consider.

Rock imperfect or undone hair.
Some of the sexist hair styles are the imperfect ones. Spend a little less time worrying about having every hair in place and embrace your natural bed head. Add a hold product for volume and texture.

Be Brave/try something new.

Go for that bold color or cut you’ve always been wanting. We’re talking a pastel ombre for spring or chopping those long locks to rock an edgy bob in the summer.

Always always always use heat protectant.

Even a little on the ends will go a long way.

Toss old products and invest in quality new ones.

While your current hair products may work for you, it is likely you’ve also been holding on to some you rarely use. Start the new year right and clean out your product closet. If you’ve yet to find quality products you like, head to Post Hair Company to get a product recommendation and read Why You Should Only Buy Your Hair Products From a Salon.

Wash your hair less.

Embrace dry shampoo in 2017. You won’t regret it.

Master ponytails and simple updos.

For those days where your hair won’t cooperate, be prepared.

Give your hair a break from heat styling at least once a week.

While using curlers and straighteners may be your thing, in 2017 we dare you to go without. Take a look here at some no heat hairstyles to try including the use of hair wraps and sea salt sprays.

Take care of hair while you sleep.

Wear a hair wrap or sleep on silk pillowcases.

Commit to deep conditioning once a month.

Lock in your hair’s moisture and keep it looking great all year long. Trust us, you’ll absolutely notice a change in your hair’s softness over time.

Blow dry on low to medium heat rather than high.

If you must blow dry, turn down the heat. High heat will cause your hair to rapidly dry out and even lead to split ends over time.

Stylist Interview: Meet Mackenzie Kincade

Posted:

Post Hair Company has a commitment to hiring only the best in the business, and today we want to introduce you to one of our newest stylists Mackenzie Kincade. Having worked at Post Hair only a few weeks, we talked with Kincade about why she chose Post Hair Company and what sparked her career as a stylist. Keep reading to learn more about Post Hair Company’s  newest stylist.

How long have you been at Post Hair Company?
Just a couple weeks now.

What made you come to Post Hair Company?
I like the atmosphere and the work environment. Where I worked before it just felt negative all the time.

How did you get started doing hair?
One of my friends was a nail tech and I started talking with her about Cosmetology. I’ve always been good with hair so I figured why not give it a shot. So, it was kind of just on a whim and then I started school and i’ve loved it ever since.

What do you love about being a hairstylist?
Getting to interact with other people, that kind of one-on-one basis, lets you get to know different personalities. Then of course the styling side of it is just very artistic and you get to be very expressive.

“I love big, messy, tousled, beachy, sexy hair. That’s my style.”

How long have you been with Post Hair Company?
 A month and a half.

Where were you before?
Blow Salon in Colorado, it’s right down the street.

How long have you been a hair stylist? What got you started?
This is my fifth year. One of my friends was in hair school and I’ve always been the person who did everyones hair. I never had thought about it as a career but after she was in it I kind of just went for it and I’m so happy that I did. I didn’t go to school so I didn’t have a backup plan and I think that's what kept me in it. It’s a tough industry to break into.

What do you like about Post Hair Company?
There’s no big brother breathing down your throat, you just take care of your own business and I like that. You just come in, do your thing, go home and that’s how it should be. Everyone is so nice here, too. There’s no cattiness, no drama, if something is up we talk about it. Everyone really gets along here and it’s very refreshing.

What is your favorite thing about being a hair stylist?
I just love when I do the cut and color, and it’s perfect, they love it. They leave and you can just see that they feel so amazing. That’s my favorite part, when your client just absolutely loves what you’ve done and they feel so beautiful. You know, It’s empowering. You get to make women feel beautiful. It’s so amazing.

What do you specialize in?
I do cuts, colors and extensions.

Any techniques or current trends you’re loving?
I love balayage, it’s so pretty. I just love blonde, everyone should be some form of blonde. I have a lot of blonde clients.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I love special event hair. I love updos, I love prom, I love weddings. I work a decent amount of weddings during the summer, usually I do two  or three . I really enjoy the whole thing of getting someone ready for an event.

Do you have a favorite hair care product?
I love the whole Kerastase line. I’m so happy to be working with it, it’s amazing. It’s so moisturizing, it’s makes your hair feel so healthy and amazing, it’s hair crack. That was a big selling point to come into Post Hair because it’s a high end product.

Any tips or anything you want your clients to know?
I teach everyone how to curl with a flatiron because it’s two times faster. It’s so quick and easy and I love the tousled look, I love messy. I love just big, messy, tousled, beachy, sexy hair. That’s my style.

Stylist Perspective- “Post Hair Company is Unique and Rare”

Posted:

With hundreds of hair salons in the state of Colorado alone, it can be tough trying to choose the right salon for you. While we can’t speak for all the other salons, here at Post Hair Company we stand out because we have a staff that is here to stay. Since experience is more valuable than anything else when it comes to the hair care industry, we are pretty proud of our 142 years of combined service experience.

At the core, our stylists and staff are what make up the great atmosphere here at Post Hair Company. We recently sat down with our very own Jennifer Olivas, who has been at Post Hair Company for eight  years, to hear what has caused her to stay and what she believes makes our salon stand out.

“It’s just a very nice, nurturing atmosphere. It very much feels like a family for all of us.”

So you’ve been here for eight  years, what makes Post Hair Company unique?
“It’s a very unique atmosphere where all the stylists get along. We’re all friends with each other and there’s very low drama. We’re also friends with the management and they genuinely care about us and how well we do.”

Can you speak to the average time a stylist typically stays at a salon?
“I’ve heard the industry average is about three  years, and with most of us, its a rare situation that most of us have been here over five  years now.”

Do Post Hair stylists spend any time outside of work together?
“Yes, most of us are friends outside of work, and we actually would like to do more things outside of work.
Even stylists who have moved on in their career, we still maintain friendships with. Stylists who have worked here previously will come in and say hi, and they’re even still friends with management.”

Other Stylists’ Perspectives

I am fortunate enough to work with a group of people that are so focused on creating the best experience and styles for our clients, it's constantly inspiring.” - Tessa Johnson

“When we hire stylists and spa service providers we really look for the right fit for our salon and our family. We want to educate and train our staff the Post Hair way, and even though it's an ongoing process we invest a lot in each of our staff and want them to grow and succeed over time with us.” -Ali Post

4 Reasons Why We Love Kerastase

Posted:

Kerastase is a luxury line of hair care products created through scientific research and advanced ingredients to enhance the natural beauty of your hair. Here at Post Hair Company our very own stylist, Jennifer Olivas is also a Kerastase Brand Ambassador. We use Kerastase products at Post Hair Company and today we’d like to share why we think they’re so great. After sitting down with Olivas, we’ve come up with the following 4 reasons why we love Kerastase.

1. Kerastase is a professional brand and product.

When talking about Kerastase, Olivas explained she appreciated the professional atmosphere around the brand:  “I love the professionalism of the product. They have a great global mission, great image and fantastic products.” And in fact, they do. Kerastase is sold only in Kerastase Authorized Consultant Salons and by doing so, Kerastase aims to eliminate diversion— the selling of products in “unauthorized” places.

2. It’s a trusted Product with High End Ingredients.

As mentioned above, Kerastase uses advanced ingredients to enhance your hair’s natural beauty. While other hair care products simply use single oils or argan  oil, Kerastase products have seven different oils in one single product. “I feel that the products really do what they say so I feel confident standing behind them when I recommend them to my clients,” Olivas says.

3. It’ll create soft, wearable hair.

“It keeps in mind that a lot of people love the soft, flowy more wearable hair. You can achieve more avant garde styles, but the products really cater to long, pretty and flowy hair types,”said Olivas. Kerastase also has plenty of tailored products for specific hair types including dry, fine and color treated hair.

4. It’s the best product for most women.

“It’s the best product for most women for a daily type use. It’s simple, it doesn’t take 40 products to achieve a look,” Olivas said. While the price point of Kerastase products may seem a bit high, it’s important to understand you’re really getting what you pay for.

“The products are so concentrated, it’ll really last you a long time.”

What is Olivas favorite Kerastase product? Pictured above on the left is the Mousse Bouffante she says it “gives you a voluminous hold without the stickiness.” Post Hair Company also offers 20 percent off all retail products every Friday.

5 Microblading Misconceptions Debunked

Posted:

Back in July, we introduced you to our new Microblading service at Post Hair Company. Today, we want to directly address some of the most-common misconceptions that surround the beauty service. You may have read that Microblading is similar to eyebrow extensions or that it is high maintenance to maintain, well, our Permanent Makeup Artist and Licensed Aesthetician, Melanie, is here to put those fallacies to rest. We sat down with Melanie to talk all things Microblading and have the following misconceptions debunked.

Can you tell us about your professional background?

I am a Permanent Makeup Artist & Licensed Aesthetician in Denver, Colorado. My training specifically for Permanent Makeup advanced at the Beau Institute and private trainings with hundreds of hours of cases. My artistic background for brow artistry began when I received training at Anastasia Beverly Hills early in my career 15 years ago and I still apply my knowledge to every client in the microblading process today. I am very grateful to be able to use  the most cutting edge techniques.

What is Microblading? Is it a multi-step process?

The Microblading process is a multi-step process. A consultation is a must to go over health history, the clients expectations, color, design and a realistic outcome. The actual treatments vary and can take anywhere from 90-120 minutes. Microblading doesn’t hurt as we move in a very slow, precise motion to create hair like strokes. Using the finest pigments for your skin tone and easy aftercare, clients return to their normal routines the same day. Clients should return for a touchup at 5-8 weeks.

Is it permanent?

Microblading is permanent. By definition and tattoo industry standards, color is implanted into the dermis. Pigments will fade in the skin over time but that doesn’t make the process semi-permanent. It is impossible to predict how much pigment will fade away and every client is different. Because of this, microblading may not last as long as compared to a fully or solidly filled eyebrow tattoo. We implant less pigment and that is why touch ups are required. Overall, microblading is very low maintenance if proper technique is used and proper aftercare is followed.

Is Microblading for everyone?

Microblading is a great option for correcting gaps, creating symmetry, post cancer hair loss or aging hair loss, alopecia or just enhancement. A consultation should always be done to review clients health, expectations and skin tone. This allows me to make sure I use the proper microblades upon treatment for best results.

How is Microblading similar and/or different to eyebrow extensions?

Microblading Brows is not similar to Brow Extensions. Brow extensions are placed on top
of the skin with an adhesive. You must go in for brow extension fills weekly, where microblading is permanent.

How has Microblading Evolved?

Microblading is currently the fastest growing segment in the Cosmetic Tattoo Industry. The use of hand tools is the oldest form of tattooing, dating back thousands of years. Many modern tools have amazing and precise needle configuration and with the rediscovery of great techniques by an advanced permanent makeup artist, microblading has evolved into it's very own art form to create beautiful brows.

What are some other Microblading Misconceptions?

The term micro pigmentation is a term that means applying pigments into the skin regardless of the application method used. If the technique is correct, all application methods can have amazing results. Thus, microblading is micro pigmentation and requires a lot of training and the highest quality of products like I use daily in my studio.

The Dos and Don'ts of Hair Extensions

Posted:
Two weeks ago, we introduced you to our new Ember Hair extensions and this week we want to give you some insight on how to take care of them. While many of these hair extension dos and don’ts will work for any type of extension, our stylist Tessa has some insight specifically for your new Post Hair extensions. One of the main things she suggests is always remember what you’re getting yourself into. Hair extensions are a commitment and at Post Hair Company, we are committed to giving you the best hair for you. Read on to find out the dos and don’ts from our stylist Tessa.

Dos

Brush your hair every night before you go to bed.
You can even put it in a loose braid to avoid tangling throughout the night.

Treat your hair well.
If you are biking or doing any activity where your hair is whipping around, be sure to put it in a braid or loose ponytail.

Purchase a Wet Brush or Knot Genie.
Something that is specified for children is made to be gentle on the hair and it won’t rip through your knots and tangles.

Keep your hair at it’s natural fall.
When you wear your hair up for long periods of time, it’s a lot of weight to put on the bonds of the hair extensions. Always keep it down or up loosely.

Remove your extensions or braid your hair before going in chlorine.
If you know you have a big trip planned, your Post Hair stylist can remove your extensions and replace them after you’ve returned. Chlorine and the ocean will only cause damage to your extensions. Every 4-6 weeks you will need to come in to have your extensions adjusted.

Understand the investment you’re making.
Hair extensions aren’t a one and done thing, it is a huge commitment on both your part and on the stylist. Always follow your stylist’s instructions to achieve the best hair result.

Don’ts

Wash your hair every night.
You should be washing your hair only once or twice a week.

Color your hair extensions.
If you are committing to hair extensions, be sure you have the hair color you’d like to have for awhile. If anything, you can color your extensions darker but lighter will only cause damage.

Use certain products.
It is best to follow the care instructions from your stylist. It is not recommended to use volumizing products, dry shampoos or any oils on your extensions and always stay away from using products at your roots.

Introducing Ember Hair Extensions

Posted:
Have you always wanted longer, stronger and thicker hair? Well, look no further than hair extensions at Post Hair Company. We’re  working specifically with Ember Hair extensions to bring you real, custom made hair extensions that’ll match your natural hair. We talked with Post Hair Stylist Tessa, to get her insight on these new extensions. “I’ve had just about every kind of extension out there and this by far has been the least damaging to my natural hair” Tessa says. Read more below and see for yourself why we’re thrilled to be offering this great new service.

Ember Hair extensions are 100% European fair-trade hair, making them the softest of all hair extensions. They are double weft, meaning they are sewn and threaded, and micro beaded rather than individual strands. Weft extensions have no tape or line which in turn allows the hair extensions to lay flatter on the head. Five microbeads per weft and five wefts complete a full set of Ember Hair extensions. The extensions use microbeads because they offer less pain and irritation on the scalp, and also help distribute extension weight. While some extensions use adhesive or glue, that is not the case with Ember Hair. Inside each microbead is a keratin coating, that will protect and prevent breakage unlike other extensions.

The thing we may like most about Ember Hair is the ability to completely customize the extensions based on each customer. When you come into Post Hair Company for your consultation, we can either take a picture of your hair or cut a small piece of it. We in turn send that in, and your hair extensions are made to blend and match to your existing hair. We are even able to give specific highlight or lowlight numbers to ensure perfection.

Another great thing about these extensions are the care they are given before they are sent to us. Each ponytail is kept together and laid the same way as the hair naturally would. The cuticles all remain together which ensures the hair remains in its natural state. Since the extensions are followed from start to finish, the quality ensures less frizz, knotting, and the best possible match for your hair.

So, are you sold? Call Post Hair Company at 303-794-5060 to book your hair extension consultation today.

That’s where we come in. Below are some modern hair styles to give a try in 2016. Perfect for back to school or just the end of summer, any of these look are sure to turn heads.

Micro Bangs

Also known as baby bangs, micro bangs were first spotted on the runway. From runway to everyday, this hairstyle is definitely achievable for many. Whether sleek or wispy, extra short bangs will bring out your best facial features.

Boxer Braids

We’re loving these sporty braids for back to school. You can braid your hair all the way back or even bring the two braids into one bun. Whichever you choose, boxer braids are sure to hold strong throughout the entire school day.

Half Bun

Instagram: @luiny

Give your beachy summer hair a twist with this half up, half down look. Pull the top of your hair back and leave it messy or brush it back for a more clean look. You could braid the top into a bun or even twist your bangs, this is the perfect hairstyle to make your own.

Messy Braided Crown

Braids were perfect for summer and there’s no reason they can’t be for school too. Simply pull your hair over to one side, make your regular braid and then secure it at the end. Go ahead and pull out a few layers to achieve that perfect undone look.

Double Buns

You may have seen Khloe Kardashian or even Ariana Grande pull off this look lately, but we’re here to tell you you can too. Similar to the previous modern hairstyles, there are many variations of the double bun. You could pull all of your hair back or even part it and leave half down, it’s really up to you and your outfit.

New Service Alert- Microblading

Posted:

Mastering the perfect eyebrow day after day can be a lengthy task. To save yourself time and stress, one solution may be our new service, Microblading. Often called eyebrow embroidery, Microblading is permanent makeup specifically for your brows. By using tiny “micro needles” along with speciality brow pigments, we create hair strokes that mimic your natural hair growth pattern. The result? Beautiful, flawless looking brows everyday.

While Microblading is perfect for those who have difficulty applying makeup, for those with thin brows or for those who may be allergic to specific makeup, it can also be done on anyone. This new Post Hair Company service is also completely customizable. You are in full control of whether you’d like a natural or dramatic look, and our trained experts will be there to walk you through each step. Another benefit? There’s virtually no recovery time. You can get back to your normal activities right after the procedure with minimal bruising or redness. However, it does take approximately 4 to 6 days for the skin to heal completely and 21 days for the final color to bloom and settle.

So, are you ready to wake up with perfect looking brows everyday? Call Post Hair Company at 303-794-5060 to book your appointment today.

The Quicker & Cheaper Way to Balayage —101 of Lacing

Posted:
You may be familiar with the hair color technique Balayage, but today we want to talk about a little something calling Lacing— the coloring technique that makes hair lighter and brighter on the ends. While the technique tends to have different names depending on the company or salon you go to, here at Post Hair Company, we’re referring to Flamboyage, or Lacing.

What is Lacing?

Similar to Balayage, but Lacing adds in an extra step of backcombing. When sectioning off small pieces of the hair, you simply backcomb at the top and then paint  the color on the ends of the hair. The added step of backcombing diffuses the line of color and gives the hair a more lived in look. Our stylist Ashlee Olson says  Lacing benefits include lower maintenance, softer color and less time in the salon chair. Ashlee also told us, “One of the things I like about it over Balayage is it’s easier to get that real icy light blonde.”

Lacing at Post Hair Company will also save you money when compared to other hair color techniques. Ashlee specifically charges 55 dollars for a flash color, being a few strands at the top and around the hairline (pictured above). Lastly, the great thing about Lacing is it’s still customizable. Whether you’re looking for soft peek a boo color or a more saturated color all over, our stylists at Post Hair Company are more than ready to accommodate. Take a look at some before and after Lacing photos below.

Exercise produces good endorphins that will help you handle your stress and pre wedding jitters. Try some mood boosting exercises like zumba, yoga, or kick-boxing.

We offer many different facials and facials packages at Post Hair Company ranging from 45 to 60 minutes. All of our facials also include analysis of your skin and customized products to address individual needs.

Spray Tan

Look your absolute best with an airbrush spray tan before your wedding day. Our Body Bronzing products at Post Hair Company were developed by a dermatologist to give you the best tan without the harmful effects of the sun. Our 15 minute treatments cost 35 dollars and will leave you with an effortless, bronze glow.

Three Reasons You Should Try Balayage in the Summer

Posted:

Balayage has quickly become one of the most asked for hair techniques in recent months, and we totally get it. The french word meaning to sweep or to paint allows for natural, beautiful looking hair, and isn’t that what we all want in the summer? The idea is that less is more when creating a soft, natural look. Read on to see why balayage is the perfect hair for summer and take a look at our Instagram to see some recent transformations we’ve done.

It Looks Natural

If you love embracing your natural hair in the summer, balayage is the way to go. The technique allows for a sun-kissed look without the actual sun damage. Your hair will have a gorgeous, healthy finish perfect to pair with your summer tan.

It’s Low Maintenance

Going balayage will not only save you time, but money too. As your color grows out, it will blend more naturally and you won’t see a typical regrowth line. This will give you some extra time in between salon visits.

It’s suitable for almost all hair types

Everyone is loving balayage because it can be done on both blondes and brunettes, and in many different ways. It looks great on blondes who want to be extra light in the summer and brunettes who want to go bronde. You can have it be as light or as strong as you like, it all just depends on the application technique.
